Importing Files

Any PDF file can be imported into a paper chart. You should try to stick to lower resolution files so that loading the chart is faster. There are essentally 4 ways to import files into a patient chart:

General Print Panel

Note that the PDF Service will only appear if the Nopali application is running.

Reordering Pages

You can rearrange the order of pages by dragging items in the Thumbnail Browser into the desired order. Note that the pages will be ordered by page number and not date.

You can also ask Nopali to rearrange the pages by date by selecting the 'Reorder By Date' button found near the top left corner:

File Sorting Button

Exporting Files

You can export pages from the thumbnail browser using one of two methods:

You can also export all of the paper chart and media files from all of the patients using the Nopali Administrator. Details can be found here.

Deleting Files

Page deletion can only be done by users with 'superuser' and 'file deletion' privileges (see Nopali Administrator for more details here). To delete a page, just select it in the thumbnail browser and press the 'delete' button on your keyboard.

Moving and Copying Files To A Different Chart

You can copy pages to a different patient chart by dragging page thumbnails to the 'Copy To Paper Chart' item found in the grouping sidebar. To move (rather than copying) selected pages, press the appropriate menu item found in the 'Action' button to the bottom right of the Chart View.

Changing File Date

You can change the date of a selection of pages by press the appropriate menu item found in the 'Action' button to the bottom right of the Chart View. You can also use the 'Change Date' button found near the top left corner of the window.

Grouping Images

The left sidebar allows you to group pages. You can create groupings that are available to each patient ('System' Groupings) or those that are only available to a specific patient chart ('Local' Groupings). Most of the time you will create 'System' groupings to avoid having to recreate the same grouping in each chart. Groupings such as 'Faxes', 'Labs Work', 'Preop Pictures' can be created, as needed. Each page in the paper chart can be included in multiple groupings.

Grouping Sidebar

To create a grouping, select either the 'System' header or the 'Local' header and press the '+' button near the bottom of the sidebar. You can edit the grouping name by double-clicking on the new grouping. To delete a grouping, select it and press the 'delete' button on your keyboard. Deleting a grouping will NOT delete the associated pages.

You add pages to a grouping by dragging thumbnails into it from the Thumbnail Browser. You can also drag PDF files from the Finder directly into a grouping.

To view the contents of a grouping, simply select it. The Chart View will show the contents of the selected grouping.

There are also a special case grouping headers labeled 'Copy To Patient Media' and ' Copy To Office Media'. Dragging thumbnails onto these headers will copy the pages (as a single PDF file) to the repective Media view.
